Exhibitions in De Appel Foundation and Galerie Wouter van Leeuwen

| The end of this week is Amsterdam is marked with opening of a couple of interesting exhibitions. Today, December 1st, in De Appel Foundation 'The Gravity in Art' exhibition will be opened. It will last till 22nd of January, 2006. The exhibition presents some pages of the history of gravity in the visual arts. The human being is a subject to the force of gravity, and the represented works show the attempts to escape this force. The list of works varies from the documented performances of Bruce Nauman, Vito Acconci and Chris Burden to the studies in flying by Joel Tauber and the daredevilry of Fiona Tan and Erik Wesselo. The idea for the exhibition is based on the concept by Rene Daalder on ‘Gravity as a Medium in the Arts’. On Saturday, 3rd December, Galerie Wouter van Leeuwen begins to exhibit the works of Esther Haase – the photographer. She gained her fame through her individual style of fashion photography. |
