Rembrandt and British Printmaking around 1900

In the upcoming 2006 the whole Holland celebrates the 400th anniversary from the birth of the famous Dutch artist Rembrandt. Throughout the year there expected a countless number of events devoted to this date. The most of them take place in three cities – Leiden, Amsterdam and The Hague. The celebration begins in the middle of December. Rembrandt was born in Leiden in 1606. In 1906, a house in Amsterdam, Rembrandt lived in, was converted into museum. Now the Rembrandt House Museum marks his birthday with four spectacular exhibitions. The first of these four events is an exhibition “Rembrandt and British Printmaking around 1900”. Here you can see graphical work from the period 1850 – 1930, created by British artists who were inspired by Rembrandt. The exhibition starts on December 17, 2005 and will last till March 12, 2006. |
